Currents are generally mild, making this suitable for beginner divers, though conditions can shift and stronger currents may occur. Access is by boat only. Divers should exercise caution regarding sharp coral and rock formations. Sharks are present at this site; maintain calm behaviour and avoid erratic movements while in the water.

Plateau de Vaiare on the Moorea East Coast features a combination of a shallow reef platform and a wall, providing two distinct environments for divers. Located 500 metres from shore, the site requires boat access. Depths range from 8 to 20 metres with an average of 15 metres. Visibility varies between 9 and 30 metres, and water temperatures remain between 27 and 29C. The site experiences moderate currents, and divers should be aware of a risk of entanglement. Species recorded around this area include various wrasses, butterflyfish, parrotfish, pufferfish, trevally, moray eels, triggerfish, angelfish, and spotted eagle rays.

Gump Reef is a scientifically significant reef located at the northwest mouth of Cook's Bay near the UC Berkeley Gump Research Station in Opunohu Bay. The site is characterised by high coral cover, including notable populations of fire coral (Millepora). Divers and snorkellers may encounter species such as blacktip reef sharks, spotfin lionfish, flagtail triggerfish, spotted boxfish, and various wrasses. Smaller invertebrates including nudibranchs, shrimp, cushion stars, hermit crabs, and sea cucumbers are also present. Access to this site requires a boat. With water temperatures ranging between 27C and 29C throughout the year, it offers a wilder alternative to typical resort lagoons for intermediate divers and snorkellers.
