Alsace offers inland freshwater diving across six sites, including gravel-pit artificial reefs, a lake in a recreation park beside the Rhine at Deglersee, and the mountain lake of Lac d'Alfeld. All sites are shore-entry and the database lists them as suitable for beginners. Depths across the region range from very shallow to around forty metres, and visibility varies considerably by site, from a few metres up to thirty metres at calmer spots such as Herrlisheim. Many sites are managed by FFESSM-affiliated clubs, and some require advance contact or membership to access.
