Beijing and North China's dive sites are entirely freshwater, set in lakes and reservoirs rather than any ocean. The headline site is the Underwater Great Wall at Panjiakou Reservoir, where sections of a Ming Dynasty structure, including the wall itself, lie submerged at depths reaching thirty metres, accessible by boat. Closer to the city, Golden Fish Spring in Fangshan District offers a shore-accessible cave dive, while Beijing Jellyfish Lake is noted for freshwater jellyfish sightings. Visibility across these sites is limited, and temperatures swing dramatically with the seasons, from near-freezing in winter to warm summer highs.
