St Crispin Reef is a large outer reef system in the Coral Sea, reached by boat from Port Douglas. The sites here, St Crispin Reef itself and East Hope Island, offer a mix of wall, drift, and drop-off diving from the shallows down to thirty metres. Visibility varies considerably, ranging from eight to forty metres depending on conditions, and moderate currents mean divers should stay attentive near the drop-offs. Species in our database include bumphead parrotfish, napoleon wrasse, whitetip reef shark, broadclub cuttlefish, day octopus, and several parrotfish and wrasse species. Guided tours are recommended for all skill levels despite the beginner rating.
