Namibe is Angola's southernmost dive region, facing the South Atlantic and influenced by the Benguela Current, which drives productive coastal upwelling and keeps water noticeably cool for much of the year. The two reef sites here, Lucira Beach and Chapeu Armado, span a wide depth range from shallow reef crests to deeper reef structure, covering both beginner and intermediate divers. Visibility is better than at sites further north, often reaching ten to thirty metres. The species list reflects that productivity, with whale sharks, mako sharks, spinetail devil rays, Atlantic goliath grouper, gorgonians, and both green and Ridley sea turtles all recorded. Access is by shore at Lucira Beach and by boat only at Chapeu Armado.
