Gray Quarry is rated as a beginner site, and its shore entry removes the need for boat logistics. The range of depths means newer divers can stay shallow while building confidence around the submerged structures. Local operators Shugars' Scuba Shack and KY Diver serve the area and can provide guidance.
Common Carp and Pike are the most frequently observed species across the sites. Temperate Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, White Bass, Black Crappie, Common Perch, and Trout have also been recorded. All are freshwater species typical of Kentucky lake and quarry environments.
Gray Quarry uses shore entry, so no boat is required. This makes it straightforward to kit up and enter the water directly from land. Shore access also makes the site practical for solo or small-group visits without charter arrangements.
