Harlan County Reservoir in southern Nebraska is a shallow freshwater lake used primarily for beginner diving, snorkelling, and open-water training. The four sites in our database are all shore-accessible, with depths reaching only a few metres at most locations. Methodist Cove stands out for its engineered underwater habitat, featuring a rock shoal and more than a hundred and fifty artificial fish structures. Visibility across the reservoir is variable, heavily influenced by wind, boat traffic, and recent rainfall. Water temperatures warm considerably in summer, making conditions more comfortable for new divers working through certification, and the lake sees most of its diving activity between late spring and early autumn.
