Intermediate and advanced sites are also available for those looking to progress onto deeper walls, overhangs, and cave structures.
Virtually all sites in the region are shore entries, accessed from gravel beaches, concrete platforms, ladders, or stone steps. No boat is required for the vast majority of dives. Entry conditions vary by site, so checking individual site notes before visiting is worthwhile, particularly at sites like Zigeunerplätzli where the entry can be slippery.
The Weggis-Vitznau stretch concentrates the greatest variety of site types in the region, including walls, reefs, artificial reefs, canyons, drop-offs, and a diveable cave at Zigeunerplätzli.
