Lysekil sits on the Swedish west coast at the mouth of Gullmarsfjorden, where Atlantic water meets a sheltered fjord entrance. Sites range from the well-known shore-access dive at Släggö, which offers wall, slope, and wreck-remain topography, through boat-access reef and wall sites such as Storebonden and Gäven, to the artificial reef at the town's own harbour. Depths across the area run from very shallow right down to about thirty metres, and the mix of site types suits beginners and intermediate divers equally well. Nudibranchs, wrasse species, conger eel, cuttlefish, and dogfish are all recorded here.
