Ascension Island is a remote volcanic island in the equatorial South Atlantic, north of Saint Helena, near the town of Georgetown. Our database currently holds one site here, English Bay, which combines reef and cave topography across a moderate to deep depth range. Water temperatures are consistently warm throughout the year, varying only slightly between their coolest in late summer and their peak in April and May. The site lists both shore and boat entry, suits beginners comfortable with moderate currents, and has recorded species including green and loggerhead sea turtles, whale sharks, triggerfish, eels, and gorgonians. Access to the island is challenging and typically requires specialist or military transport.
