Sites around Makunudu tend to feature exposed outer reef and drop-off diving with noticeable currents, suiting intermediate divers comfortable with drift conditions. Summer Island contributes a sheltered housereef with a natural reef combined with an artificial structure, making it well suited to those who prefer a calmer, shallower dive from shore. Both clusters are served by multiple dive operators.
Almost all sites are reached by boat, and several operators are based in the area including Makunudu Dive Centre, Diverland Summer Island and Joy Dive Maldives. The exception is Summer Island Housereef, which can be entered directly from shore. Boat access means sites across both clusters are reachable within a short transfer.
