The Banda Islands lie in the Banda Sea, reached from Banda Neira. Our database covers two sites: Hatta Island, a shallow shore-accessible reef drop-off suited to beginners, and Batu Kapal, a more demanding boat dive combining wall, pinnacle, cave, and reef in depths to thirty metres with strong currents. Water temperature swings noticeably through the year, sitting at its coolest in the middle months and warming again from late in the year, a pattern typical of the Banda Sea. Whale shark, Napoleon wrasse, blacktip and whitetip reef shark, dogtooth tuna, and pygmy seahorse are all recorded across the two sites.
