Kubu sits on the north-east coast of Bali in the Bali Sea, between the busy dive area of Tulamben and Pemuteran. The six sites in our database cover an unusually broad range of terrain for a small area: natural reef, artificial reef, muck, walls, caves, drop-offs, and a wreck all feature. Most sites are shore-accessible, keeping logistics simple. The species list is macro-heavy, with nudibranchs, hairy frogfish, harlequin shrimp, leaf scorpionfish, and seamoths well represented, alongside whitetip reef sharks. Water temperatures dip noticeably in the mid-year months and are warmest in late spring and late in the year.

Water temperatures fall in the mid-year months, reaching their lowest in late southern-hemisphere winter, so a wetsuit of at least three millimetres is worth considering outside the warmer periods. The warmest and most comfortable conditions run from late spring through early summer and again from November to December.
