Los Lagos covers a stretch of Pacific coast and estuarine channels in southern Chile, taking in fjord-adjacent waters that are cold and relatively unexplored by visiting divers. The four sites in the database include reef, wall, kelp forest, and drop-off terrain, with Cantil del Mareado dropping to sixty metres. Water temperatures peak in the mid-teens Celsius in summer and fall toward ten degrees in mid-winter, requiring drysuits or heavy wetsuits throughout much of the year. Species recorded across the sites include broadnose sevengill sharks, blue sharks, south American sea lions, king crabs, torpedo rays, and gorgonians, and seven operators work out of Puerto Montt.
