The Juan Fernández Archipelago lies in the South Pacific well off the Chilean mainland and is reached only by air or sea. Our database currently holds one site, El Pangal, a reef and wall dive accessible by boat from Cumberland Bay. Water temperatures range from the low-to-mid teens Celsius in late winter and spring to around twenty degrees in late summer, and visibility at the site varies between ten and thirty metres. The species list at El Pangal includes scorpionfish, gorgonians, black corals, sea anemones, and sea stars, reflecting the high endemism the archipelago is known for in the wider research literature.
