Bajos del Tiburon is a shallow reef located 750 metres off the coast of Coquimbo, Chile. The site features a reef structure ranging from 5 to 15 metres in depth, with an average depth of 5 metres. Access is exclusively by boat. Conditions include mild currents and visibility typically between 5 and 10 metres. Water temperatures are cool, ranging from 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, necessitating a 7mm wetsuit with hood, gloves, and boots. The site is suitable for beginner divers, with typical dive times around 45 minutes. Shore-based facilities include parking, toilets, showers, changing rooms, a rinse station, air fills, and boat charter services.

The site is characterised by strong currents and surge, requiring careful planning for boat entries and exits. Visibility ranges from 10 to 30 metres, allowing for clear views of the kelp canopy. Due to cold water temperatures between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius, a drysuit or a 7mm wetsuit with hood and gloves is recommended. Divers should remain aware of boat traffic during ascents and potential entanglement risks within the kelp.
