Punta Perdices sits on the San Matías Gulf in Río Negro Province and is notable for the clarity of its water relative to much of the Patagonian coast. The three reef sites here, Las Conchillas, the main Punta Perdices inlet known as Caleta Falsa, and Punta Villarino, all feature shallow to mid-depth profiles accessible from shore or boat. Visibility at the main site and Punta Villarino can reach twenty metres, which is the stand-out characteristic of this area. The white shell-covered seabed at Caleta Falsa is distinctive and easy to navigate. Water is warmest in late summer, around nineteen to twenty degrees, and coldest in mid-winter at around eleven degrees. Broadnose sevengill sharks, blue sharks, conger eels, torpedo rays, and sea lions are all recorded here.
