Fremont Lake is a deep glacial lake in Wyoming's Wind River Range, sitting at high altitude near the town of Pinedale. Three sites span a wide range of character: Moosehead Bay offers massive granite boulders and good visibility via boat access, the Upper Boat Ramp provides a steep shelf descending to serious depths, and the marina's protected cove features a sunken-tree artificial reef suitable for snorkellers. Visibility ranges from good in the boulder fields to moderate near the marina. The water is cold throughout, with a marked thermocline at depth, so thermal protection including a drysuit is strongly advisable. Trout and freshwater shrimp are among the species present.
