Saint Petersburg's diving spans Baltic Sea sites, inland lakes, and quarries in the surrounding Leningrad region. Conditions in the Baltic are cold and visibility is limited, typically between two and eight metres at freshwater training sites and variable at open-water locations. The seven sites in our database are all classed as artificial reefs, ranging from three to forty metres, and include shore-entry sites suitable for beginners as well as the deeper boat-access Valday Lake Eagles site. The region functions largely as a training and certification ground, with nearby sites used to build skills before divers venture further afield.
