Lae and the Huon Gulf sit on the Solomon Sea coast of Papua New Guinea's mainland. The single site in our database, Halfway Reef, is an advanced-only boat dive characterised by a steep drop-off descending from thirty-five to ninety metres with strong currents and variable visibility. Water temperatures here are cooler than in many other PNG regions, sitting consistently around twenty-six to twenty-eight degrees Celsius throughout the year rather than the warmer readings found elsewhere in the country.
