Kuto and Kanumera occupy the southern bay area of Île des Pins and offer a compact set of reef, cave, and seagrass sites accessible by both shore and boat. Depths across the five sites stay shallow, topping out at fifteen metres, which suits beginners at spots like Kanumera Bay and La Piscine Naturelle. The exception is Grotte de la Troisième, a cave and cavern site rated advanced because of its overhead environment; divers enter through a narrow underwater corridor and should account for variable visibility and shore break on entry. Blacktip reef sharks, green sea turtles, broadclub cuttlefish, and sea kraits are among the species recorded here. Water is warmest from January to March and coolest between July and October.
