Mljet is an island in the southern Adriatic whose dive sites span freshwater, sea, and open-ocean environments. The site list includes the S-57 wreck, a boat-only artificial reef at mid-range depths; Glavat, a dramatic wall and drop-off off Lastovo Island that descends well beyond recreational limits; the shallow reef at Lirica; and the freshwater cave and reef system at Govedari Lake. That variety of water realms in a small area makes Mljet unusual for the region. Visibility at sea sites can reach thirty metres, though surge at shallower sites requires attention. Species recorded include common octopus, gorgonians, nudibranchs, and Napoleon wrasse.

Sea temperatures follow a similar pattern to the broader southern Adriatic, holding around fourteen to fifteen degrees Celsius through late winter and spring, then climbing through summer to a late-summer peak. The recommended season runs June through September, when temperatures are most comfortable for extended dives. The freshwater Govedari Lake site has its own thermal character and is accessible year-round via shore entry.
