Thompson Lakes is a cluster of freshwater sites in northern Manitoba, spread across lakes near Thompson and Gillam. The region draws on Precambrian Shield terrain, with sites ranging from Ospwagan Lake's rocky shoreline and shallow boulders to the seagrass beds of Twilight Bay in Paint Lake and the deeper drop-off at Stephens Lake. Depths run from very shallow beginner entry points to around thirty metres at Stephens Lake, where sediment from the Nelson River keeps visibility limited. Species include pike, perch, trout, burbot, and sturgeon. Water temperatures in summer can support comfortable snorkelling at some sites, but cold conditions prevail outside of the warmest months. Shore access is standard throughout.
