The Whyalla Cuttlefish Sites lie in the upper Spencer Gulf in South Australia, where shallow reefs at Point Lowly and Port Bonython Fenceline host one of the world's most remarkable seasonal wildlife events. Giant Australian Cuttlefish gather here in large numbers each year from May to August, with peak aggregations in June and July. Both sites are shore entries at beginner-friendly depths and are suitable for snorkellers as well as scuba divers. Outside the cuttlefish season, water temperatures climb from the mid-teens in winter to the low-to-mid twenties in summer, and eagle rays, magpie morwong, and sea sweep are also recorded here.
