Bass Lake is a freshwater quarry lake in Gauteng, functioning primarily as an inland training venue for divers at all certification levels. The four sites here include artificial structures sunk to create points of interest, and the water holds freshwater species including large-mouth bass, carp, tilapia, catfish, and European eel. Depth ranges from shallow walk-in areas to around twenty-three metres, with a noticeable thermocline at roughly eight metres. Visibility fluctuates between three and fifteen metres depending on recent activity. Shore entry is the standard access method, and operators based in Johannesburg and Germiston run courses here regularly.
