Lake Garda is a freshwater diving destination with a site mix that spans flooded mines, submerged wrecks, vertical walls, and artificial reefs. Caves and overhead environments range from beginner-friendly training grounds to demanding technical dives. Wrecks include a metal dredger and a century-old wooden vessel. The most commonly observed fish are Sun Perch, Common Carp, Pike, and Perch, with Trout and Burbot also encountered. Most sites are reached from shore, and conditions vary considerably with depth and exposure.

Lake Garda is freshwater, so the wildlife is entirely lacustrine. Sun Perch, Common Carp, Pike, and Perch are commonly observed across many sites. Trout, Common Perch, and Burbot appear occasionally, and Freshwater Blenny, Chub, and American Crayfish have also been recorded. Freshwater Sponge has been observed at some sites.

Advanced divers have plenty of options too, such as the wall at Parete del Baitone and the wreck of the Relitto Draga. The cave at Elefante Bianco is strictly technical.
The site mix is unusually varied for a lake. Flooded mine passages, steep vertical walls, natural and artificial reefs, and multiple wrecks all feature. Contrà Pria-Arsiero offers canyon formations carved by the Astico river. Baia delle Tavine combines reefs with several wrecks on a single dive. This variety means repeat visits rarely feel repetitive.
The majority of Lake Garda dive sites are reached directly from shore, making independent diving straightforward for those who know the area. A number of sites, including Relitto Draga, Viking wreck, and Secca del Trimelone, require boat access. There are many operators based around the lake, including Manta Sub, New Diving Torri, Blue Deep Scuba Shop, and Tempesta Sub, among others.
