Aitutaki sits in the South Pacific Ocean, where the reef diving is shaped by a passage that cuts through the reef and channels water with mild but variable currents. The one site in our database, Arutanga Passage, is a boat-access reef dive suited to intermediate divers, reaching depths from shallow reef to around thirty metres. Visibility at the passage typically runs between fifteen and thirty metres. Water temperatures stay warm throughout the year, rising to their highest in late summer and early autumn. Whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays, green sea turtles, Napoleon wrasse, and angelfish are among the species recorded here.
