Whitehorse Lakes covers a set of freshwater sites within reach of Whitehorse in the Yukon, spanning reservoirs, glacier-fed lakes, and subalpine waters. The standout site is Chadburn Lake, where a submerged forest of preserved trees descends to considerable depth below a strong thermocline. Schwatka Lake, formed by the Whitehorse Rapids Dam, lets divers explore the old riverbed, though dam operations can shift conditions rapidly. Jackson Lake and Long Lake are strongly stratified, with cold water below the thermocline regardless of the warm surface temperatures that can develop in July. Kookatsoon Lake offers comparatively warmer, calmer conditions for beginners in late summer. Species recorded include trout, burbot, stickleback, freshwater shrimp, and snail.
