Lake Ohrid sits at high altitude on the border between North Macedonia and Albania and is one of Europe's oldest lakes, estimated to be several million years old. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site fed partly by underwater karst springs, which contributes to its notable water clarity. The two sites in our database, Bay of Bones and Trpejca, cover natural reef, artificial reef, wall, and wreck terrain at depths suitable for beginners and intermediate divers. Divers can expect to encounter endemic freshwater species including trout, European eel, carp, and sun perch.
