Media Luna is a spring-fed freshwater lagoon sitting on the high semi-arid plateau of San Luis Potosí, near the city of Rio Verde. Thermal springs keep the water warm year-round and drive the exceptional clarity that makes the lagoon worth the journey inland. Divers and snorkellers enter from shore and find a varied landscape of blue holes, caverns, cave systems, and reef topography across a wide depth range. The species list is freshwater throughout, carp, tilapia, catfish, livebearer, and water lily, and the site is rated suitable for beginners, with four local operators based at the lagoon.
