Colombia's Andean Lakes region offers freshwater diving at high altitude, with sites including Lago de Tota and Lago Calima. Water at these sites is cold, with Lago de Tota and the technical site Leo's Point recording temperatures around thirteen degrees Celsius, while Lago Calima varies more widely depending on time of day. Depths range from ten metres in shallower areas to sixty metres at the technical site, and altitude diving procedures are required at all sites because standard dive tables and computer algorithms are calibrated for sea level. The species encountered are freshwater fish including trout, tilapia, catfish, and livebearers rather than marine life.
