Pangnirtung and Cumberland Sound lie on Baffin Island in Nunavut, placing divers in Arctic ocean and fiord environments accessible from the hamlet of Pangnirtung. Water temperatures remain at or below freezing for most of the year, rising only slightly in late summer. All sites are rated for advanced divers only, and drysuits with heavy insulation are essential. The area offers drop-offs, kelp forests, reef structures, and an artificial reef, with sites ranging from shore entries along the waterfront to boat-access locations such as Kingnait Fiord Mouth and the historical whaling station at Qikiqtan. Visibility is highly variable.
