Divers and snorkellers can expect depths ranging from 1 to 5 metres, with an average depth of 3 metres. The site is suitable for beginners and offers shore access. Facilities available on-site include parking, toilets, showers, changing rooms, a rinse station, air fills, equipment rental, a cafe, first-aid, a dive shop, boat charter, guided tours, and gear storage. The habitat supports various temperate freshwater fish and invertebrates. Typical dives last approximately 30 minutes. Be aware of surf conditions when entering the water.

Buffalo Park Swimming Area at Lake Phoenix provides a quiet, shore-entry location suitable for beginners. The site features an artificial reef structure composed of fallen timber along the shoreline, which serves as a nursery habitat. Facilities available at the site include parking, toilets, and showers. This area is best suited for those seeking a less crowded environment for swimming and snorkelling in freshwater conditions.
