20 Mile Beach is the northernmost public access point on Walker Lake, offering wide views of the Gillis Range. The site features a gradual slope, resulting in shallow water that extends a long distance from the shore. Snorkelling here is suitable for beginners, with depths ranging from 2 to 5 metres and an average depth of 3 metres. Access is via the shore. Water temperatures vary significantly throughout the year, with the swimming season typically occurring from June to September when temperatures exceed 20°C. Outside of these months, water temperatures are considerably cooler, averaging 10.7°C in April.

Mineral County Monument Beach is a freshwater site located at the southern end of the public recreation area. The topography is defined by a former boat ramp that is now high and dry, requiring snorkelers to trek across the exposed lakebed to reach the current shoreline. Due to the nature of the lakebed and water conditions, this site is rated for beginners, though access requires careful navigation of the shoreline. Facilities available at the site include parking, toilets, showers, changing rooms, a rinse station, and a cafe. Divers and snorkelers should be prepared for variable conditions typical of this freshwater environment.
