The topography consists of canyon walls exposed to Southern Ocean swells and powerful water movement influenced by tides, wind, and river discharge. Due to the hazardous conditions, including unpredictable currents and boat traffic, this site is strictly for advanced divers with extensive local knowledge. The habitat supports a variety of temperate marine life, including reef fish and invertebrates. Proper exposure protection is essential for the cold water temperatures.

Conical Harbour is a reef site in Tasmania offering a wide depth range from 12 to 40 metres. The topography features a reef structure with crevices that provide shelter for rock lobsters and abalone. Divers and snorkellers should be prepared for cold water temperatures between 13C and 17C, requiring appropriate thermal protection. Conditions are variable, with the site exposed to surge, surf, and strong currents influenced by the roaring 40s. Boat launching can be rough, and the site is best suited for intermediate divers capable of managing changing underwater conditions. Visibility can reach up to 40 metres on favourable days.
