Johnson's Shut-Ins is a natural freshwater canyon where a river is constrained by ancient volcanic rock. The site features a series of pools and chutes that function as a natural water park. Snorkelers can expect moderate currents and visibility that often exceeds 6 metres. Access is via the shore, and the site includes facilities such as parking, toilets, showers, and changing rooms. Due to the presence of deep water, down currents, and entanglement hazards, this site is recommended for intermediate-level snorkelers.
