Chilumba is a port town on the northern section of Lake Malawi with one recorded dive site, Playground Point, a shallow freshwater reef at a consistent depth of around eight metres. The site accepts both shore and boat entry, which is uncommon in the region. Conditions are stable with mild currents and visibility ranging from good to very good. Night diving is permitted here. Aqua Africa operates in the area. The site suits beginner divers and those looking for a low-key, remote alternative to the busier southern hubs.
