San Rafael's diving centres on two large freshwater reservoirs in the Andean foothills: Dique Valle Grande and Dique Los Reyunos. Both are shore-entry sites with artificial reef and wall topography, and both drop to considerable depth, the wall at Dique Valle Grande descends to eighty metres, giving beginners plenty of shallower terrain while leaving significant room for more experienced divers to explore. Visibility at both sits around five to ten metres, and navigation is largely structure-led rather than panoramic. Six operators are active in the area, based across towns including Godoy Cruz and San Juan. Species found here include carp, rainbow trout, tilapia, and catfish.
