Rio Chama Inlet is a freshwater site located at the western end of Abiquiu Lake where the river flows into the reservoir. The topography features a transition from riverine to lacustrine environments. Divers can reach depths of up to 30 metres. Conditions vary, with visibility highly dependent on recent rainfall and river silt. The water remains cold year-round, ranging from the mid-30s to mid-40s Fahrenheit in winter and rising to the mid-60s to mid-70s Fahrenheit in summer. Wetsuits are recommended for all dives. Access is available via both shore and boat entry, and the site experiences mild currents. This location is suitable for advanced divers due to the cold water and low visibility hazards.
