The Mouth of the Inlet, where the Thelon River system meets Hudson Bay, offers a unique snorkelling environment shaped by the mixing of river and sea water. This site is suited for advanced snorkellers due to the challenging conditions and cold water temperatures, which range from -2C to 7C throughout the year. Access to this expansive area is by boat. The site is characterised by its nutrient-rich waters created by the river outflow. Given the extreme temperature range and remote location, proper thermal protection is essential for all in-water activities at this site.

Fox Trap Island (Igluligaarjuk South) is a marine site located 5km from the hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet. This location features a combination of natural reef and artificial reef structures, providing a habitat for various benthic invertebrates. The rocky shoreline serves as a haul-out area for seals. Divers should be prepared for extremely cold water temperatures ranging from -2C to 7C, which necessitate specialized cold-water equipment. The site is subject to strong currents and is intended for advanced divers only. Snorkelling is possible at this location, though the challenging conditions require careful planning. Marine life in this region includes various temperate marine fish and invertebrates.
