Diving in the North Caucasus centres on high-altitude freshwater lakes near Nalchik. The one site in our database, Goluboye Lake, is a technical cave and drop-off destination with a dramatic depth range and visibility that consistently reaches thirty metres. Water temperatures remain cold year-round, sitting between three and nine degrees Celsius, so thermal protection is non-negotiable. The overhead environment and extreme depths place this firmly in advanced and technical diver territory. Access to remote mountain sites in this region has historically been complicated, and self-sufficiency with equipment is essential.
